Request for Help raises $30,000 93.7 Mike FM

December at Franciscan Hospital wouldn’t be complete without the annual Mike FM Mascot Party. Special guests included Boston College’s Baldwin the Eagle, Wally the Green Monster, Lowell Devils’ Devil Dawg, Boomer from the Boston Cannons and the Suffolk Ram. The kids challenged the mascots to Simon Says and Freeze Dance, but the highlight was a very serious game of Mascot Musical Chairs.

Two days later, while most Bostonians were driving home in the decade’s worst ice-storm, our great friends at Entercom were working hard to raise money for Franciscan Hospital. All day, anyone who called in to Mike FM and made a donation got to request a song - and we all know that Mike FM plays everything!

The most exciting part of the evening was when we received a phone call from Winter, Wyman and Company, who let us know that instead of having a Holiday party, employees decided to donate $15,000 to the Hospital.

With the help of lots of celebrities and volunteers, including Ernie Boch Jr., Lenny Clarke, Bianca de la Garza, Boston Herald’s Track Gals Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa, and Fox TV’s Maria Stephanos & Mark Ockerbloom — we doubled gifts this year, and raised $30,000! Sincere thanks to Julie Kahn, Bill Alfano, Joe DeAngelis, Kelly Sutton-Hargraves and the whole gang at Entercom for their support and friendship.
