Your support is crucial. Help us keep music in our Boston Public Schools and affect positive change for children through music.

Help us raise $3,000 to sustain this incredible program which will continue to open a world of possibility to children at the Haynes Early Education Center. A donation of any amount will make an impact and we thank you in advance for your generosity!

The study of music has been proven to give pre-teens direction, focus, and a sense of self worth that sticks with them throughout their formative years. Music Drives Us has identified an elementary school in Roxbury that is about to loose their Suzuki violin program because of severe budget cuts. Please help us keep this program in the school thus keeping violins in these children’s hands. "I love my violin because I don’t think about anything else when I’m playing. It makes me feel so happy and I’m good at it!," from an eight year old Suzuki program student.

The Suzuki Institute of Boston is a prestigious, non profit organization dedicated to offering young children weekly individual lessons as well as a weekly group class with highly qualified professional instructors. In partnership with the Boston Public School the Suzuki Institute has identified a school in Roxbury that without your help will not be able to continue with their Suzuki Institute strings program.

The Suzuki program is unique on multiple levels; one is that it includes the parents of the young students into the program offering more than just music lessons to a child, but also a bonding experience with their parent and a new interest for them to enjoy together out of the classroom. Each student, ages 4 — 12 receives a 30-minute individual lesson and a 30-minute group class per week. For the younger students, one parent participates along with them in the classroom and learns the basic steps on the child’s violin so they can practice together at home.

"We have seen the incredible results the Suzuki program offer young children and their parents, from self confidence to a love of learning," Carla Tardif said. "Music education at this early age has countless benefits and is a privilege that every child should have access to."

Thank you in advance for your generous donation and for helping us keep quality music programs in the Boston public schools.
